Robin Kendrick-Yates
with Harris County Advanced Master Gardener: Composting & Entomology
Topic: The Benefits of Growing Native Plants
Robin is a retired physician assistant, who worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center for 20 years, managing pain for those being treated for cancer. During retirement and through the pandemic, he found healing gardening with plants native to the Texas Gulf Coast ecosystem. Since 2021, he has volunteered with Harris County Master Gardeners, developing a native plant landscaping bed at their Genoa Friendship Gardens demonstration garden. He is advance trained in composting and entomology. He enjoys speaking regularly on native plants, composting, and other gardening topics of interest to the citizens of Harris County as well as teaching the master gardener interns, and writing articles in the Urban Dirt, Harris County Master Gardener’s newsletter. When not gardening, he enjoys spending time with his wife, roasting coffee and riding his motorcycles:)
