The Burden of Inheritance, When You End Up With It All

Our Speaker: Gayle Goddard, The Clutter Fairy

Eventually every family has the experience of losing parents and inheriting their lifetime collection of belongings. It’s a huge burden and project that arrives at the family’s worst possible time. We’re going to discuss how to deal with the emotional roadblocks that make it hard, and how to tackle the practical aspects of distributing and disposing of the estate contents.

TPG Challenge!

Bring 20 items (you don't need) and bring them to the luncheon to donate at the Junior Forum Thrift Store.

About our speaker:

Gayle Goddard, The Clutter Fairy,
doesn’t possess magical powers for making order out of chaos
—just a natural sense of organization, a lot of empathy, and a keen insight into the relationships between people and their “stuff.” She spent more than 20 years organizing financial data as a CPA before turning her skill and passion for conquering clutter into a professional organizing business. As owner of The Clutter Fairy, she offers organizing services and ongoing support to help clients conquer clutter and focus on what theyreallywant to be doing. She is also an enthusiastic public speaker and publishes the webcast “The Clutter Fairy Weekly” available on YouTube and several podcast platforms.

Gayle’s philosophy: “Clutter steals time, energy, material resources, and attention away from the things that are important to you. Achieving clarity in your physical surroundings—clearing away clutter—creates mental clarity.” In her organizing work, Gayle cultivates an atmosphere free of the guilt and shame that often plague chronically cluttered people. She works closely with clients to design action plans grounded in what they want from their spaces, and then provides the tools, techniques, and support to help bring those plans to life. “I believe every client can do more than just clean up the mess. With clutter out of the way, there’s room for more of everything else—more fun, more passion, more joy. There’s room for more life!

Gayle is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and serving on the NAPO Board of Directors as the current Treasurer. In fall 2011, she earned her credentials as a Certified Professional Organizer® (CPO). This prestigious certification recognizes Gayle’s organizing knowledge and experience and demonstrates our commitment to serving our clients with the industry’s highest ethical standards and best practices.
